title: [I2309] Designer Collection - Mathew Nuqingaq - Qayaq Necklace Red
description: "Artist Matthew Nuqingaq drew inspiration from the Inuit Circumpolar Legend of Kiviuq to create the distinctive Qayak design for MedicAlert. Kiviuq is the eternal Inuit. His adventures and travels by qayak (kayak) are a vital part of Inuit oral traditions and storytelling, passed down through generations. The details of the Kiviuq legend varies among the Inuit peoples but a central theme that often emerges is resilience and survival: Kiviuq's stories highlight his remarkable resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity – a sentiment that clearly parallels what we do at MedicAlert. Nuqingaq’s stunning, clean line design is emblematic of his highly sought after pieces that have been worn by the likes of King Charles, Sophie Gregoire and other notable individuals. Please note this necklace has limited space for engraving and is most suited for individuals with fewer health conditions to be engraved. This product does not contain any nickel and is suitable for individuals who have metal allergies. Also available with black enamel accents.

Designed and manufactured in a limited run in Canada. ## LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We would like to acknowledge this sacred land on which MedicAlert operates. It has been a site of human activity for 15,000 years. This land is the territory of the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and Confederacy of the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today, the meeting place of Toronto is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work in the community, on this territory.
