title: [I2312] Designer Collection - Mathew Nuqingaq - Amauti Necklace Black
description: "Artist Mathew Nuqingaq brings the beauty of Inuit culture to his Amauti Necklace design for MedicAlert. The Amauti is a symbol of maternal nurturing and care representing the intimate and unspoken bond between a mother and child. In Inuit daily life, the Amauti is a baby carrier recreating in the external world what it was like to be carried in the womb. Nuqingaq sees a correlation between what the Amauti represents in the strength and resilience of Inuit mothers and resourcefulness and adaptability that are essential for survival in the Arctic, and the work of MedicAlert in caring for those who may be at their most vulnerable. This product does not contain any nickel and is suitable for individuals who have metal allergies. Also available in silver or with black line enamel accents.
Designed and manufactured in a limited run in Canada. All net proceeds support MedicAlert's Programs. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.\n

Order of Canada recipient Mathew Nuqingaq transforms storytelling through design capturing the beautiful legend of Kiviuq, the eternal Inuit wanderer who circumnavigates the earth in his qayaq. MORE ABOUT MATHEW NUQINGAQ

## LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We would like to acknowledge this sacred land on which MedicAlert operates. It has been a site of human activity for 15,000 years. This land is the territory of the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and Confederacy of the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today, the meeting place of Toronto is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work in the community, on this territory.
